Overview
The Alabama Department of Corrections is transitioning inmate personal mail to a digital delivery system. Personal mail such as letters, pictures, and drawings will be scanned and delivered electronically to inmates through the tablet “Facility Messages” application.
This change allows mail to be delivered faster and more securely.
Important Change to Mailing Address
Starting soon, the address used to send personal mail to inmates will change. All personal mail must be sent to the new mail processing center so it can be scanned and delivered digitally.
New Mailing Address Format
All personal mail must be addressed exactly as shown below:

Inmate Name – AIS Number
P.O. Box 17339
San Antonio, TX 78217
The sender’s full name and physical mailing address must also be clearly written in the top left corner of the envelope.
Deadline for Sending Mail to Facilities
Personal mail sent directly to a correctional facility will no longer be delivered after November 10, 2025. Mail sent to facilities after this date will be returned to the sender.
Packages and Legal Mail
Packages and legal mail should continue to be sent to the local address of the correctional facility. These items should not be sent to the mail processing center.
Digital Messaging Option
Family and friends can also send digital messages directly to inmates using the CorrLinks service. Messages can be sent through the CorrLinks website or the CorrLinks mobile app.
