The Community Corrections Program (CCP) is a community-based program that provides local supervision for residential and/or non-residential offenders, to include evidence-based treatment programs and services to help reintegrate offenders into the community. A judge may sentence a defendant directly to a CCP as a prison diversion or to a CCP after a period of incarceration.
The Alabama Community Punishment and Corrections Act was created by AL Code Section 15-18-171.1 (2023) to offer judges an additional sentencing option. There are three sentencing options for counties with CCPS: Probation, Prison, or CCP.
ADOC Administrative Regulation 490, Community Corrections Program, details responsibilities and procedures developed by the ADOC to put policy into practice regarding the CCP.
These CCP Minimum Standards provide an instrument by which the Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) can establish benchmarks to measure the performance of community corrections residential and non-residential programs.

This CCP Auditing Manual establishes uniform accounting standards for community punishment and corrections programs which fulfill requirements of Alabama Code Section 15-18-181. This manual was prepared and promulgated by the State of Alabama Department of Examiners Public Accounts (EPA) under the authority and responsibility provided by Section 15-18-181.
