MONTGOMERY, Ala. – On Sunday, August 24, 2025, a contraband incident was reported at Elmore Correctional Facility. During visitation hours, a body scan detected concealed objects on the person of Kyria Latham as she was attempting to enter the facility. During a pat search, two packages were recovered containing:
- Approximately 46 g of Fentanyl
- Approximately 95 pills Oxycontin and Hydrocodone
- Approximately 6g of sprayed paperÂ
- Approximately 55 g of synthetic cannabinoids
- 4 Apple iPhones
Latham was detained for further investigation. She was then transported to the Elmore County Jail and charged with Promoting Prison Contraband 1st and 2nd Degree and Drug Trafficking Fentanyl.
The ADOC investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be pending.
