FORMER CORRECTIONAL OFFICER TRAINEE ARRESTED FOR CONTRABAND

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – On Friday, April 4, 2025, former Corrections Officer Trainee Tommy Middleton was arrested for attempting to smuggle contraband into Fountain Correctional Facility (CF). The contraband was uncovered during a search conducted by ADOC K-9 Officers. Middleton was found in possession of approximately 212 grams of marijuana and two cell phones. The investigation was a joint effort involving the ADOC K-9, Narcotics, and Law Enforcement Services Divisions.

Middleton was transported to the Escambia County Jail and charged with:

  • Possession of Marijuana 1st
  • Promoting Prison Contraband 2nd
  • Attempting to Commit a Controlled Substance Crime
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Obstructing Governmental Operations


The ADOC investigation is ongoing and further charges may be pending.

Less than 24 hours before this arrest, a joint contraband interdiction operation was conducted at Fountain CF by the K-9, Intelligence and Communications Services, and Men’s Services Divisions, and the Corrections Emergency Response Team. The operation resulted in the removal of contraband, which is part of a larger campaign led by the ADOC Commissioner’s Office.
