Holman Decommissioning: Strategic Update – March 10, 2020

The Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) is pleased to report that 100% of Holman Correctional Facility’s general and restrictive housing populations planned to be relocated have safely been transferred to other state facilities throughout the correctional system. As mentioned in last week’s update, Holman’s death row population will remain housed in the main facility until all necessary modifications to the Restrictive Housing Unit have been completed.

Moving forward, the ADOC will provide updates on the Holman decommissioning process every two weeks on Tuesdays at 11 a.m. CST. Our goal is to continue to share substantive information on this process, and as we near the end of Phase 2, a revised update timeline simply makes good sense.

For the last of the general population and restrictive housing inmates transferred out of Holman, housing assignments were updated in real-time once they reached their receiving facility. Families and loved ones of impacted individuals can access inmate housing assignment information at any time here: Inmate Search.
