The Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) continues to push forward ongoing modification projects to Holman Correctional Facility’s (Holman) Restrictive Housing Unit (RHU). While 100% of the Holman inmates who needed to be moved from general and restrictive housing populations have been relocated to other facilities within the correctional system, Holman’s death row population will not be moved from main facility to the RHU until all necessary RHU modifications are completed. All utility systems within the Holman tunnel remain operational and are being safely serviced using established precautionary measures on an as needed basis to ensure continued functionality.
In response to the ongoing and evolving COVID-19 situation, all third-party contractors engaged by ADOC to complete facility modifications are required to adhere to the same biosecurity protocols as ADOC staff prior to entering Holman, including temperature readings. Any third-party individual exhibiting a fever or other COVID-19 symptoms will not be permitted to enter to the facility. Ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of our inmates, staff, and the public remains the ADOC’s top priority.
