Alabama Correctional Industries |
Correctional Industries exist
primarily for the purpose of providing a work-training program for
inmates of the Department of Corrections. Our secondary and equally
important purpose is to assist all state departments, institutions,
and political sub-divisions of the State in securing their
requirements to the extent that we are able to supply them.
ACI employs approximately 125
"free-world" staff and 1,500 inmates. We offer more than 500 products,
custom items, and services.

- Vinyl binders

- Janitorial supplies
- Mattresses
- Clothing
- Printing (letterheads,
forms, business cards, car decals, name plates, award plaques, and
custom metal signs)
- Data entry
- Custom License Plates
- Metal fabrication
- Furniture restoration
- Vehicle restoration
Purchase
of articles by State Agencies
Sale and purchase of
"prison-made" products is regulated by Alabama Law (Regular
Session, 1976) Act No: 286, which provides in essence that only State
departments, institutions and political sub-divisions of the State,
which are supported in whole or part by funds derived through public
taxation, and who are under the supervision of the State of Alabama or
any other State of the Union, may purchase our products. Further, it
is mandatory that such agencies within the State of Alabama secure
their requirements from Correctional Industries to the extent that
they can be supplied.
