ADOC MAKES TWO ARRESTS AT ELMORE CORRECTIONAL FACILITY FOLLOWING REPORT OF TRESPASSING
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – On Monday, April 7, 2025, the Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) K-9 Team at Staton Correctional Facility was notified about three trespassers on state property at nearby Elmore Correctional Facility in Elmore, Ala. The team responded with the assistance of Elmore County Sheriff’s Deputies. Three suspicious vehicles were discovered, searched, and two suspects were arrested. During the vehicle searches, the officers recovered cell phones, narcotics, and a package wrapped in black tape.
Two suspects, Jamie Gardner and Terrance Washington, were arrested and transported to the Elmore County Jail. Gardner was charged with Criminal Trespass 3rd, Possession of Marijuana 2nd, and Resisting Arrest, and Washington had outstanding felony warrants.
This was a collaborative operation between ADOC’s K-9 and Law Enforcement Services Divisions and the Elmore County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be pending.
ADOC ARRESTS TRESPASSER AT VENTRESS CORRECTIONAL FACILITY, RECOVERS CONTRABAND
MONTGOMERY, Ala. — On Wednesday, April 9, 2025, ADOC K-9 was notified about a trespasser at Ventress Correctional Facility in Clayton, Ala. The team responded and tracked down suspect Terrence Whatley, a former ADOC inmate. The team also located and confiscated a pink duffel bag and a clear garbage bag containing packages of contraband. A total of 20 packages wrapped in black, green, and brown tape were recovered. The packages contained approximately 534 grams methamphetamines, 140 grams of fentanyl, 952 grams of marijuana, 106 grams of flakka, 26 grams of sprayed paper, 18 grams of pills, 34 cell phones, assorted chargers, knives, tobacco, shoes, and clothes.
Whatley was arrested, transported to the Barbour County Jail, and charged with Trafficking Fentanyl, Trafficking Methamphetamines, Trafficking Flakka, Promoting Prison Contraband 1st, Promoting Prison Contraband 2nd, Possession of Marijuana 1st, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be pending.
