ADOC LESD/K9 MAKE TWO LARGE CONTRABAND BUSTS
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – On February 16, 2025, the Alabama Department of Corrections Law Enforcement Services Division (LESD) and its K-9 teams thwarted two separate attempts at introducing contraband at Easterling and Ventress Correctional Facilities.
Easterling Correctional Facility
At approximately 8:30 p.m., K-9 officers received information regarding a possible trespasser attempting to introduce contraband at
Easterling Correctional Facility in Clio, Ala. The team immediately responded, located, and detained suspect Kevin Harris. The following items of contraband were recovered:
Marijuana
Methamphetamine
Cell Phones
Harris was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana 1st, Promoting Prison Contraband 1st, Trespassing, and Trafficking Methamphetamine. He was taken to the Barbour County Jail.
Ventress Correctional Facility
At approximately 10:15 p.m., K-9 officers received information regarding a possible trespasser attempting to introduce contraband at Ventress Correctional Facility in Clayton, Ala. K-9 units tracked, located, and detained suspect Travis Reese. The following items of contraband were recovered:
Marijuana
Methamphetamine
Cell Phones
Knives
Reese was arrested and charged with Promoting Prison Contraband 1st and 2nd, Trespassing, Trafficking Methamphetamine, and Trafficking Marijuana. He was taken to the Barbour County Jail.
Both LESD investigations are ongoing and additional charges may be pending.
