ADOC DONALDSON EMPLOYEE ARRESTED ON CONTRABAND CHARGE

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – On Tuesday, March 24, 2026, ADOC narcotics agents conducted an investigation into Correctional Officer Markia Smith for promoting prison contraband. Agents were able to obtain warrants to arrest Smith and search her residence, where approximately 134 grams of marijuana were located.

Smith was transported to the Jefferson County Jail and booked on charges of Possession of Marijuana and Promoting Prison Contraband 1st.

The investigation is ongoing and further charges may be pending.
